Skye Vernon

I'm Skye Vernon. Black, trans, originally from Los Angeles, and in Portland eleven years now. By day I work in healthcare and drive for Uber. I also develop and work with AI, and that's the tool behind this blog, not the author of it.

Everything here is AI-assisted the way everything I do is AI-assisted, but the voice, the opinions, the strategy, and the calls are mine. I actively push back against AI's tendency to sand the edges off what I actually think. It's a force multiplier, not a ghostwriter.

This is mostly a Portland blog: what I see and live here, city planning and infrastructure, being Black in Portland, dating, queerness, and the environment. I also write about music, art, and whatever else I've got an opinion on that week.

I've got twenty years behind me as a songwriter, music producer, and recording engineer, plus live stage engineering and a long list of other jobs. That's real lived experience to draw from, but I don't lean on it as the whole argument. I'd rather back things with research and logic than "trust me, I've been around."

What readers can expect

Articles distinguish between documented facts, reasonable inferences, and the author's conclusions. Sources are linked whenever they can be shared publicly. When a claim rests on incomplete evidence, the uncertainty should be named rather than hidden.

Corrections and updates

Material corrections are noted on the relevant article with an update date. New evidence can change a conclusion. That is a feature of honest research, not a weakness.
